veteran status.
It shall be the policy of ACBA to promote
equal opportunity in employment to all qualified persons and employees and

will take affirmative action to ensure that equal employment opportunity is
realized.
This policy applies to all terms and
conditions of employment, including, but not limited to, hiring, promotion,

above groups is strictly prohibited. Any employee who engages in such
conduct is subject to appropriate disciplinary action.
You are encouraged to bring any perceived

Deposit Fraud Targeting Law Firms
Please be aware of
a recent trend identified in which fraudsters are specifically targeting
law firms in a deposit fraud scheme. The typical scenario is as follows:
• A fraudulent foreign client contacts a law firm via email indicating they
are
involved with some legal issue with a domestic company. That company will
either
settle a claim within the next few days or the parties will go to court. The
law firm
is asked to act as settlement agent, or possibly represent the foreign
client going
forward. Shortly afterwards, a counterfeit check comes to the law firm with
the
other party listed as remitter. The law firm takes their cut from the check
and is to
wire the rest. In most instances, the funds are wired prior to the deposited
item returning as
“counterfeit”.
Should you encounter a similar scenario, please call your financial
institution.

Boston Breast Cancer Walk
This summer, Executive Director, Barbara Davis will be participating in
the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk, being held in Boston August 15-17th.
Barbara will walk 60 (that’s right, 60!!) miles to help raise funds to find a
cure for breast cancer. Eighty-five percent of the net proceeds of this event
go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Every advance in breast cancer research,
treatment, education and prevention in the last 25 years has been touched by a
Komen for the Cure grant. The remaining fifteen percent of net
funds goes to the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, which
provides ongoing support to breast cancer initiatives, so that strides made
today can continue to propel us toward our goal.
The Breast Cancer 3 Day is a weekend of hope and walkers honor lives lost,
celebrate survivors, promote breast cancer research, and help bring breast
cancer care to those who desperately need it. Barbara has committed herself to
walk and had agreed to raise a minimum of $2,200. She would like to thank
everyone who has made a donation in her name and had already raised $700.
However, she still needs to raise $1,500 before the Walk. There is still time
to support her in her efforts!! Please send your donation in by August 13.
Please consider supporting
Barbara in her efforts by making a donation in her name. You may either go to
the website at
www.The3Day.org or send a
check, payable to “Breast Cancer 3-Day”, to our office-- whichever is easier for
you. Breast cancer has tragically touched the lives of many of our members.
Please join Barbara in helping to fight this disease.
